My Story

On the journey of a lifetime, I gained the perspective to look beyond myself. I recognized nothing happens on its own – we have to create the world we want to live in.

It had been several months since my youngest daughter, Tuolumne, was born, and I felt it was time to go back to work. When I saw the for-sale sign on the restaurant, I knew. Reopening under the name, The Spot Café, I firmly planted my stake in the community.

I have always been older than my age. My parents had me when they were very young, and I grew up alongside them. They struggled from poverty, and I never felt like anyone in my family was truly happy. With that awareness, I began my quest to be happy.

As a father, I wanted to break that family cycle and create a better narrative for my daughters. My oldest daughter, Devynn, first opened my eyes to what mattered. Our expensive trip to Disneyland did not rank in memory, but the day we spent together at the hotel pool did. I have raised my daughters to be strong, independent, happy women who do not question themselves. They made me think about who I am, the example I set, and how I want the world to remember me when I am gone.

I knew I was not done raising children, and when Devynn was 14, I adopted Tuolumne. Unfortunately, Tuolumne was born in critical condition. For the first week of her life, I visited her incubator in the hospital as her respirator hummed alongside us. After that, the doctor told me the only chance she had was with a procedure they could not do there. The problem was no hospital that could do it would risk an ambulance ride on a standard respirator, which would require her own lungs to do some of the work.

In tears, I called a man I had met years ago who I knew did something for Children’s Hospital. After leaving a voicemail begging him to help, the doctor came in and said the ambulance was on its way. That phone call made the difference and completely shifted my idea of community.

Fortunately, that standard respirator was exactly what she needed. Within two weeks, she could breathe on her own! Today she is the picture of health, and I am so proud to be her father.

Our experience got me thinking about the world I want to live in. I know we are the only ones who can change our lives. After Tuolumne was born, I thought bigger about that world, the community and my place within it.

I want to live in a world where the barista is my friend, and when I need help, someone pitches in. It is the world I strive to create by helping at a personal level whenever I can. Life should be win-win or no deal, just like the Keller Williams motto.

Long ago, I recognized that the most valuable real estate we have is our mind and heart. We are the only ones who can create the world we want to live in, so I keep that in mind and positively work toward my vision.

I still own two restaurants in the area because they firmly ground me in my community, which I love. In 2018, after years of buying and selling my own businesses, I became a licensed REALTOR®. That quickly grew beyond my own real estate needs to working with others, and I enjoy helping my community grow and thrive today. Whenever I am not working, I enjoy being outside and around others. My favorite part of being a REALTOR® is being there for the milestone moments.

With me, what you see is what you get. I will get right to the nitty gritty so we can help you move forward. Whether good or bad, you will always get the truth from me because I am here to find real solutions.

Your job is not to worry – it is to be excited! My job is to worry until we have a problem and then uncover the best possible solutions. Long before real estate, I spent 15 years in construction, so I can tell you the pros and cons with any given property. I have lived in this community for many years and raised both of my daughters here, including one who is still in school. This place has my heart, and my roots run deep. With extensive experience in residential and business real estate, I am confident I can help you get where you want to be. Once the transaction is closed, I will continue helping you forward as your lifelong REALTOR®.

Sincerely,

Mitchell Stein
